Did you know that human and chimp shares about 99.9% similarity of genes? It is even more closer than the 99.3% similarity of gene that a common chimpanzees shares with pygmy chimpanzees in spite of the two being almost indistinguishable from each other in appearance. Our difference with chimps are so little, I should not be fuming in anger with a former classmate of mine and risk loosing the little humanity left that sets me apart from animals. After all, with our tiny difference with ape, see how we do treat apes. So, maybe, I was just receiving the same end as the chimps in Manila zoo are getting.

Well, my indignation was instigated by the text message this former classmate of mine sent me, which I considered an act like a total ass (a supposedly stupid animal of burden) but more likely like the other ass for spewing crap. Word of caution: never refuse on the account of some important matter to accommodate an invitation to attend the first birthday of your former classmate’s fourth son’s first birthday. Especially, after you have formerly refused the invitation to be a godfather of his second son and made up for it by being the godfather of his third son.

For my not being able to accommodate the current invitation, all of a sudden that .1% difference of man with chimps that may be attributed to man being rational suddenly dissipated: he became unreasonable with his stupid text message and for my part, I became unable to aspire to be an angel or a saint and let his disparage go unpunished. So I write to get back at the moron.

However, I should still give the guy a slack for treating me like a chimp. After all, it is kind of really difficult enough to do what most animals find unusual. That is for male species to help rear brood. You see, in the animal kingdom the only important function of male species is to pass on genes. Once the task is done, the male species moves on to the next possible carrier of genes or get eaten up like in the case of black widow spiders. Produce as many offspring from various egg cell carriers at all cost even if it kills you from trying. Hence the male peacock with its long, peahen attractive but cumbersome tail. So, my former classmate putting up with his fourth offspring is pretty much an amazing feat worth celebrating, if you are to ask a chimp, one of the most promiscuous animals.

In the animal kingdom I could be considered as misfit for being single and therefore currently insensitive to my former classmate’s emotional upheavals (I should have read the billboard saying, “hey this moron is currently emotional because emotion is a tool to get him rear child”. My genes, even as I speak now, maybe revolting against me for not perpetuating them to the future. If natural selection could be fast-forwarded, I should be selected right now. That’s why as in the animal kingdom, the likes of me get bossed around by those who think they possess the future of their species. Neanderthals.

Anyway, it’s not that I will become extinct with what this fellow did to me. In fact, clucking like a hen this incident here now may be construe as chickening out on my legacy of being human, for refusing to settle the issue more humanely. Is this what being human being is all about - Falling short of being human that is supposedly aiming at becoming more human? Go fish.
